MEDTECH CONSORTIUM TO COLLECTIVELY ADVANCE HEALTHCARE INNOVATION
12 July 2018, Hyderabad:The consortium that consists of hospitals, research centres, incubators like CIE, pharma and bio technology companies have been assisting the Telangana government to discover creative innovations in healthcare solutions and products. They have also been assisting in the process of medical innovation through opportunity validation, idea development, prototyping, field validation, clinical trials, market access and scale to promote large enterprise. The consortium has also been assisting pharma enterprises to connect with startups that can further their strategic market plans.
Some of the enterprises that are part of the consortium include Apollo Research and Innovation, International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad, CIE@IIITH, DRDO, Sunshine Hospitals, Dr Reddy’s Labs, LV Prasad Eye Hospital, Care Hospital, Star Hospital, Johnson & Johnson etc.
During the past six months since its inception, the consortium has undertaken some key activites such as
– T. Healthcafe – informal meetups with invited speakers where attendees can share what they’re doing and network with those in their field. These Healthcafes have also served as a platform for startups to pitch for help from the consortium.
– Annual grand confluence and showcase at BioAsia
– The consortium has been actively working with the medtech incubators at Fernandes & Apollo
– The consoortium has built a strong network system with AIC-CCMB, BIONEST-UoH, IKP, BIRAC and GCE to promote and encourage healthcare innovation
– Provided seeding opportunities to startups through MedTech Hackathon, Incubation and Accelerator programs and mentoring sessions.
– Organised a clinical trials workshop and another on Do’s & Don’ts of Grant Writing
The 8+ events conducted so far attracted 200+ attendees, 20+ guest speakers and is actively nurturing a growing community.
In the following months CIE@IIITH will help in creating a directory of MedTech Startups with complete details of startups with the help of SIC and MedTech consortium cembers and do an need analysis of startups. It will also create and propose a mechanism to assess the startups need, mentor-startup mapping and evaluation criteria
Govt. of Telangana will help and enable startups that are suggested by MedTech Consortium, who will also assist in creating a list of offerings/services from MedTech Consortium members organizations to startups.
