US Consulate visit to IIIT Hyderabad

IIIT Hyderabad hosted a delegation from the US Consulate, reinforcing the long-standing and multifaceted relationship between the two institutions on 21 January. Over the years, the US Consulate and IIITH have engaged in several meaningful interactions involving faculty and students across a wide range of academic and research areas, and the Institute looks forward to further strengthening this collaboration.

The visit also marked an interaction with the new US Consul General in Hyderabad, Ms. Laura Williams, who assumed office a few months ago.

During the discussions, the US Consulate expressed keen interest in understanding existing and potential collaborations between IIIT Hyderabad and American higher education institutions, particularly under the US–India TRUST (Transforming Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology) initiative announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with US President Donald Trump last year. The delegation also learned about IIIT-H’s diverse research and innovation ecosystem spanning iHub, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Manthan, quantum technologies, and other emerging areas, while exploring opportunities for future partnerships in these domains.
