Thai Cultural Performance

The Cultural Wing of the Student Life Committee (SLC) organised a Thai Cultural Performance on the evening of 14 November at the KRB Auditorium.

The programme featured Nora, a classical dance tradition from southern Thailand known for its dynamic interplay of grace and vigour. Inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2021, Nora draws upon the Natyashastra while integrating distinctive Thai dance techniques — offering a remarkable synthesis of Indian and Thai aesthetic traditions.

The performance was led by Mr. Pattarapol Tangurai, a distinguished Thai artist. Mr. Tangurai is a graduate of the Banditpatanasillapa Institute of Fine Arts, specialising in Drama Education with a focus on Khon Pra, the heroic character in Thai Classical Mask Dance. He is currently pursuing a Master of Performing Arts (Dance – Bharatanatyam) at the University of Hyderabad.
