TCS Ph.D fellowship to Amal J and Akhila M

Amal Joseph working with Dr. Ravi Kiran Sarvadevabhatla at CVIT and Akhila Matathammal working with Dr. Karthik Vaidhyanathan at SERC have been selected for TCS Ph.D fellowship, as part of their Research Scholar Program. The fellowship is effective from 1 July 2025 for a period of 4 years or submission of thesis for PhD, whichever is earlier.

Amal Joseph: Prior to joining IIIT Hyderabad for his Ph.D programme, Amal Joseph was a machine learning engineer at Arcesium, where he worked on semantic mapping and document information extraction. He has also worked as a data engineer at Tata Communications.

Akhila Matathammal’s research focuses on sustainable and intelligent computing systems. Her research combines AI, sustainability, and software design, with expertise in cloud-native systems, microservices, and green AI. She aims to bridge academic research with deployable, environmentally responsible AI solutions that benefit both industry and society.
