The Cultural Wing of the Student Life Committee (SLC) hosted Swarānubhav—an evening celebrating the richness of Hindustani Classical Music—on 6 November at the KRB Auditorium. The event brought together three distinguished artists whose performances showcased the depth, nuance, and timeless beauty of the tradition.

Smt. Hemangi Bhagat Nene — Vocalist
A Hindustani classical vocalist from Jaipur–Atrauli Gharana, Hemangi Bhagat Nene is known for her graceful blend of classical, semi-classical, and light music. Trained under Dr. Shashikant Tambe, the late Vid. Shubhda Tai Marathe, and currently under Vid. Pratima Tilak, she is an “A” grade artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan.
She has earned top university ranks in Vocal Music (B.A., M.A., M.Phil) and has received numerous honours including the Telangana Sangeet Ratna, Sur Shree Award, and Lata Alankaran. Her performances have graced prestigious festivals such as the Tansen Samaroh (Gwalior) and Ustad Shaik Dawood Khan Smriti Samaroh (Hyderabad).
Shri Vivek Kayal — Tabla
Vivek Kayal began learning tabla at age four under his father, Shri Sadashiv Kayal, and went on to train with several eminent gurus including Shri Ramesh Kulkarni, Shri Dinesh Patil, the late Shri Suhas Shastri, and Padmashree Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar.
A graded artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan, Vivek has been recognized with honours such as the Pandit Jasraj–Rotary Club Scholarship, First Prize in Taal Sadhana, and awards at the National Youth Festival. He has accompanied leading performers including Vidushi Kalapini Komkali and Vidushi Pratima Tilak, and is also a seasoned soloist and dedicated tabla educator with over 15 years of teaching experience.
Shri Upkar Godbole — Harmonium
Hailing from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, Upkar Godbole began his musical journey under his grandfather, the late Shri Yashwant Godboley, followed by twelve years of rigorous training under the late Dr. Vivek Bansod of Ujjain.
He has performed at major festivals including Pt. Kumar Gandharva Samaroh, Ustad Amir Khan Samaroh, Ustad Razab Ali Khan Samaroh, and SPIC MACAY chapters across the country. His accompanying artists include Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, Vidushi Kalapini Komkali, and Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar. Alongside his musical pursuits, Upkar is an engineering and MBA professional currently working with Accenture.
