Dr. Vinoo Alluri was featured in the fifth edition of The Life of Science’s (TLoS) yearly desktop calendar. It featured 48 Indian women, transgender and non-binary persons working in various fields of science during 2022 – 2023. The calendar was launched on  11 February to mark International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Dr. Alluri was featured under the theme Music.

Since 2018, The Life of Science have been featuring Indian women, transgender and non-binary persons in science calendar. The initial versions of the calendar were geared towards highlighting contributions of individual women scientists. Realising that “women in science” framing is too narrow to encapsulate experiences of people from marginalised genders, TLoS team has  broadened the scope of the calendar to include transgender and non-binary persons from 2021. This year they have moved away from highlighting contributions of individual people on each page to a more thematic representation of the Indian science ecosystem.
