Dr. Sourav Garg

Dr. Sourav Garg has joined the Robotics Research Center (RRC) as an  Assistant Professor. He obtained his Ph.D from Australian Centre for Robotic Vision.

Dr. Garg’s research focuses on Embodied Intelligence, spanning robotics, computer vision, and machine learning. His interests include visual place recognition, localization, navigation, image retrieval, and scene understanding—key capabilities for autonomous robotic systems.

He is currently leading robot navigation research at the Australian Institute for Machine Learning, University of Adelaide. Prior to this, he served as the Lead Research Fellow for QUT’s Perception and Localisation research program. With over 50 publications in leading robotics and computer vision venues, an award-winning Ph.D. thesis, and multiple industry-collaborative patents, Dr. Garg is widely regarded as an emerging leader in robotics and embodied intelligence.

Dr. Garg also actively contributes to the research community, regularly serving as an Area Chair or Associate Editor for premier conferences and journals such as CVPR, ECCV, and IROS, and has been recognized for his outstanding service.
