Dr. Saurabh Todaria appointed member of TDT-NCERT

Dr. Saurabh Todaria has been appointed as a member of the Textbook Development Team (TDT) for Philosophy textbooks for Grades 11 and 12, under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

The TDT will work in coordination with the National Syllabus and Teaching-Learning Material Committee (NSTC) constituted by a 21 member committee chaired by Shri M C Pant, Chancellor of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), and co-chaired by Prof. Manjul Bhargava of Princeton University.

There are other dignitaries on the committee are Dr. Sudha Murty, Chairperson, Infosys Foundation; Music Maestro Shankar Mahadevan and Ranjana Arora, Member Secretary, NCERT.

The NSTC is responsible for developing subject-wise syllabi and Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM) for different grades. This is the first time NCERT is developing Philosophy textbooks as part of its curriculum.

The Philosophy TDT consists of subject experts from across India and will function under the leadership of Prof. Sachidananda Mishra, Professor of Philosophy and Religion, BHU and Member-Secretary, Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi and Prof. Parimal Patil, Professor of Religion and Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, Harvard University.
