Workshop on Music Games

A workshop on music games for anyone 13 years and above was held on 5 January at KRB auditorium. The Music Games Workshop was designed to make music, particularly Indian classical music more approachable through engaging games. The games were developed by some students from the music elective course and a software professional. The workshop featured both physical group activities and individual digital games.

Around 35 participants aged 13 to 55, registered and participated, some also from outside IIIT Hyderabad.  All participants were able to easily learn the structure of six ragas while staying engaged with the games. These games not only foster an interest in Indian classical music but also help in building cognitive skills. The games included – Musical connections, Aroh-Avroh challenge, Piano jugalbandi and Indian music quiz.

The response was extraordinary. Participants were completely engrossed in these games and expressed a strong interest in more workshops of this kind. The game developers were Soham Korade, Vysishtya, Ashish Bharadwaj, Vishnu and Mr.Ranganath. The event was supported by the Outreach IIITH.
