The 25th edition of the IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing, Data, and Analytics (HiPC 2018) was held in Bengaluru from 17 – 20 December. Among the best 25 papers in its history, shortlisted 7 papers of which two papers are contributed by IIIT Hyderabad.
HiPC serves as a forum to present current work by researchers from around the world as well as highlight activities in Asia in the area of high performance computing. The meeting focused on all aspects of high performance computing systems and their scientific, engineering, and commercial applications. In 2016, to keep pace with new computing trends, the conference added two new areas of interest to its name: Data and Analytics.
To observe this Silver Jubilee, HiPC has broadened the technical program to specifically include topics related to data science, and paper submissions were invited to either the HPC tracks of Algorithms, Applications, Architecture and Software or Data Science tracks of Big Data Algorithms and Analytics and Big Data Systems and Software.
As part of the 25th year of HiPC, a committee was constituted to select papers that were thought to be most impactful of the papers that have been published at HiPC over the past years. The committee looked at a large pool of papers, their citations across the years, and arrived at a shortlist of 25 papers. These 25 papers were put to vote to the PC Chairs of the past 25 years and a final list of the following seven papers are selected of which two papers are contributed by IIIT Hyderabad.
The two papers selected were:
- Pawan Harish, P J Narayanan (2007) – Accelerating Large Graph Algorithms on the GPU Using CUDA
- Kishore Kothapalli, Rishabh Mukherjee, M Suhail Rehman Suryakant Patidar, P J Narayanan, Kannan Srinathan (2009) – A performance prediction model for the CUDA GPGPU platform
