“tesla_protocol” qualifies for ACM ICPC world finals

“tesla_protocol”, made up of Sai Anurudh Peduri,  Arjun Pitchanathan and Devansh Gautam, has qualified for the Association for Computing Machinery – International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC) world finals (https://icpc.baylor.edu/). 

The International Collegiate Programming Contest is an algorithmic programming contest for college students, conducted by and for the world’s universities. The ICPC is affiliated with the ICPC Foundation and is headquartered at Baylor University.

Teams of three, representing their university, work to solve the most real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure. Through training and competition, teams challenge each other to raise the bar on the possible. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.[1]

There are 8 regions, and a total of 112 teams qualified for World Finals this year. IIITH team participated in the Asia West region, which includes India, Iran, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. There are 8 regional contests in the Asia West region, out of which 4 are in India. Winners from each regional qualify for World Finals. Each team is allowed to participate in two regionals.  Team “tesla_protocol” participated in:

  • Amritapuri: Placed 6th out of 313 teams [2]
  • Kanpur: Placed 4th out of 92 teams [3]

Top few teams from each regional (all 8 sites) were invited for the Asia West Finals, where the top 7 teams (excluding previous winners) would qualify for World Finals.

Team “tesla_protocol” was placed 7th overall in the contest  [4], and 3rd after removing already qualified teams, and therefore qualified for the World Finals.

The World Finals 2020 will happen in Moscow, Russia, from 21 to 26 June.
