Dr. Mohit Kumar, gave a talk on Data Science Challenges in trillion dollar B2B e-commerce on 23 October. He introduced key data science challenges that are faced in a trillion dollar B2B e-commerce industry. These range from credit underwriting (particularly to underserved), personalisation across entire user journey, recommendation systems, demand forecasting, supply chain planning and optimisation, fraud detection, advertising, automating customer support etc
Dr. Kumar’s background is in applied machine learning across multiple areas of search, supply chain, fraud and abuse, pricing in E-commerce and fraud and abuse in healthcare insurance. Prior to joining Udaan, he was Senior Principal Data Scientist with Flipkart, where he was the first member of DS leadership team. He played an instrumental role in shaping DS in teams like Search, Trust and Safety, and EKart. He has worked with Accenture Technology Labs, Chicago and IBM India Research Lab, Delhi. Dr. Kumar obtained his MS and Ph.D in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kharagpur.
