The 4th Summer School on Machine Learning was conducted from 8 – 13 July. Seeing the recent trends of its rise, primary theme for this year’s summer school was Deep Learning. The ML summer school was slightly theoretical in nature but sufficient practical exercises were also covered to enable a better understanding of the theoretical track. It was primarily targeted at graduate students working in Machine Learning and related areas, undergraduate students and people from industry looking for exposure or those working or planning to work in this area. Experts in this area shared their views and work with participants, conducted interactive sessions and discussed ideas with them. It provided an excellent platform to bounce ideas amongst other like-minded enthusiasts. Machine Learning finds application in areas as diverse as neuroscience, biomedical informatics, drug discovery, speech recognition, language processing, computer vision, recommender systems, learning theory, robotics and games.
