Astronomy Club
The Astronomy Club organized a Star Party from 4 to 5 February at Japal Rangapur Observatory. About 28 students and 3 non-students participated. Star party is one of the top events organised by Astronomy club every year. This year to gaze at a few stupefying astronomical events students visited Japal Rangapur Observatory. The observatory has a 48 inch telescope, which was at one time Asia’s 2nd largest telescope. The students carried with them the club’s telescope and a couple of binoculars as well which helped them see the C/2022 E3(ZTF), the green comet that can be seen once in 50,000 years. Besides the comet they were lucky to spot a few planets like Jupiter, Mars, and Venus, coming to different constellations. The students viewed all possible ones with a telescope as the planets kept rising above the horizon and finally the amazing celestial objects, the messier ones. Because of the clear sky and location of the observatory the students were also able to spot the Syncom satellite with unaided eyes. It was indeed an insightful trip filled with loads of fun for all the participants!
