Night cricket premier league – 2019

On 30 – 31 March, 52 teams with 8 players per team ( a total of 416 students) participated in a game of night cricket. Team Risers 2.0  won and Lusk Tapas 2.0 were the runners up of the match.

The match was made possible through the efforts of sports secretary Saurabh Mittal, Ganga Mohan, Salay Jain, Surya Bheemla, organizers and Cricket Team IIIT-H. The audience enjoyed the commentary by UG students.

 

 

Hockey Premier League 2019 (HPL-2019)

Hockey Premier League-2019 (HPL) was played from 25 – 28 March. 12  teams participated in the tournament out of which 6 teams qualified for the 2nd round of the tournament. HPL-2019 resulted in Team Aashish as winner, Risers as runners-up and Team PEC at second runners-up.

 

 

Prize Distribution for sports events

Inter Batch medals, trophies and medals for all the special events like 10k run, Hockey Premier League, Girls Cricket, Night Cricket etc were distributed on the evening of 15 April at the basketball court.

 

 

 

 

 

Inter-Batch Badminton tournament

Physical Education Center organised an inter-batch badminton tournament from mid-February to end-March  which resulted in UG4 as winners and UG3 as runner-up.

The UG4 Team players included Akhilesh Soni, Rishabh Arora, Medha Sharma, Vanalata Bulusu, Aiswarya Sunil, Raghav Gupta, Mohit Chandra, Swapnil Daga, Akhil Singh, Anuj Goyal and Swapnil Nayan.

 

Players of UG3 Team were Pradeep Yarlagadda, Aditya Aggarwal, Appari Lalitth, Kanay Gupta, Koganti Sai Venkat, Krutam Hathi, Mugdha Abhyankar, Nikita Rungta, Prakyath Reddy Madadi, Ronak Aghera and Thapaswini Chowdary.

 

Bike Riding for Women

Deepa Radhakrishnan, a core member of Hyderabad United Bikers and founder of bike-riding school GearSpot, gave the girl students a hands-on-demo session on bike riding and a short talk on 6 April.

Deepa is also the co-founder of Tangy Sessions which brings together music and art. Over the years, she has been breaking the myth that women cannot handle heavy bikes, by creating an opportunity for women to learn and encouraging them to break stereotypes.

Isha Mangurkar, UG5 (UG2k14 Batch)who participated in the session says, “Thanks for introducing us to Deepa. Along with aviation, she has also been involved with a lot of other exciting projects. I was super impressed by how she taught everything with so much patience. Since there were only 4 people each one of us got a chance to ride the bike.”
