Prof. Soumen Chakrabarti

Prof. Soumen Chakrabarti, IIT Bombay gave an online talk on Graph Neural Networks and Knowledge Graph Completion on 30 March.

Prof. Chakrabarti discussed Link Prediction Algorithms and how they will materialize in the future. In this context, he   explained Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), particularly Graph Convolution Networks (GCNs). He  also laid out a proposal on PermGNN and showcased a differentiation in comparison with the earlier GNNs.

Currently a professor at IIT Bombay, Prof. Soumen Chakrabarti obtained his Ph.D from University of California, Berkeley and went on to work at IBM Almaden Research Center, Carnegie-Mellon University and Google. He has published extensively and his work on keyword search in databases received the 10-year influential paper award at ICDE 2012. He is the author of one of the earliest books on Web search and mining. Prof. Chakrabarti received several awards including the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 2014. He is a fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering, Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and a distinguished alumni of IIT Kharagpur.
