MIT World Peace University
Dr. P Pravin Kumar Venkat Rao delivered two guest lectures at the Department of Civil Engineering, MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, on 21 July.
His first lecture, Advanced Composite Systems for Strengthening Existing Masonry Structures, focused on modern strengthening techniques and their applications in enhancing the performance of masonry buildings. This was followed by a hands-on training session on Pier Analysis of Masonry Buildings for Seismic Safety Assessment and Evaluation, where M.Tech students gained practical experience in analysing masonry structures.

The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who engaged in discussions on masonry behaviour, failure mechanisms, strengthening strategies, modelling challenges, and design methodologies. Dr. Pravin also interacted with faculty members of the department, exchanging ideas on emerging research directions in structural and earthquake engineering.
The visit was hosted by Dr. Dattatreya Tripathi and his team, fostering academic exchange and strengthening collaborative ties between institutions in the field of structural and earthquake engineering.

COEP Technological University
Dr. P Pravin Kumar Venkat Rao gave an expert lecture on Innovative Composite Solutions for Retrofitting Masonry Structures at the Department of Applied Mechanics, College of Engineering Pune (COEP) Technological University, Pune on 22 July.
The lecture focused on structural resilience, sustainable construction, and disaster risk reduction in masonry buildings, highlighting contemporary composite-based strengthening and retrofitting techniques.

The session was attended by senior faculty members and research students, who actively engaged in discussions on masonry behaviour, retrofitting practices, and emerging research challenges in the field.

The visit was hosted by Dr. Vaishali Dawari and Prof. Suhasini Madhekar. Dr. Pravin described the visit as an enriching experience that provided valuable opportunities for academic interaction and knowledge exchange.
