The Open Knowledge Initiatives (OKI) programme at IIITH has been established, with the aim to foster language diversity and promote equitable access to knowledge across Indic languages. Through community-led and multilingual efforts in research, partnerships, technology development, and outreach, this initiative seeks to strengthen and expand the open knowledge and technology ecosystem. The OKI team is the result of a strategic integration of the Access to Knowledge (A2K) programme, previously housed at the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS) with the Raj Reddy Centre for Technology and Society at IIITH. Developed with support from the Wikimedia Foundation, this initiative, with the mentorship of Prof. Vasudeva Varma (PI), will work towards fostering inclusive, community-led ecosystems that support language diversity, open knowledge, and technological innovation in Indic languages.
