Students now have new workspaces on campus. The student workspaces are set up as a facility where any student can come and work in a quiet space. These spaces are designed and built recently in 2022 with modern facilities such as ergonomic chairs and desks, discussion rooms, white boards, and the like. Put together, these facilities can accommodate 200 students at any given time.  The space is designed with good  ventilation and fire escape doors and fire extinguishers as per safety standards.

 These are in the Vindhya building at A7FF, B6FF, and B6SF locations and will be called as WS-1, WS-2, and WS-3 respectively. The facility WS-1 opens to the Vindhya canteen with more outdoor seating and landscaping.

With a view to encourage the proper usage of these facilities, the following guidelines are being proposed:

• The workspaces can be used by any student. There are no desktops set up – students have to bring their own devices as needed
• Use of air conditioning is to be restricted to the summer months. Ceiling fans are provided in these rooms and should be used as needed
• The workspaces will be kept open from 06:00 Hrs to 24:00 Hrs
• It is recommended not to talk in high voices that can disturb fellow users
• Students are expected to use the facility carefully and not damage the fittings provided
• Keep the corridors and passages free of obstructions and crowding
• Food and beverages are not allowed in the Workspaces and Teaching labs

In addition, two new Teaching Labs are also set up in locations C7-SF and B6-SF of the Vindhya building. Each of these Teaching Labs can accommodate 100 students at any given time. These are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching aids including projectors, TV Screens and theatre style seating. The space is designed with good  ventilation and fire escape doors and fire extinguishers as per safety standards.

The Teaching Labs will be used during the day to conduct lab sessions as per the curricula. During these times, no students other than those part of the lab session will be allowed to. In other times, it is possible to use these spaces by other students.
