Krishna Singh (ECD), under the supervision of Dr. Sachin Chaudhari, presented a research paper titled “Exposing Privacy Risks in Residential Air Pollution Monitoring” at the National Conference on Communications (NCC 2026), held at IIT Hyderabad from 26 February to 1 March.
NCC is one of India’s premier annual conferences in the fields of communications, signal processing, and networking, organised by the Joint Telematics Group (IITs and IISc). The 2026 edition, hosted at IIT Hyderabad, brought together researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss cutting-edge developments shaping future communication systems.

The presented work explores how indoor air quality (IAQ) sensor data—such as particulate matter, CO₂, and temperature—can be leveraged to infer fine-grained household activities, including cooking patterns. The study highlights significant privacy risks associated with smart home sensing systems, underlining the need for privacy-aware design in such technologies.
