Mr. Parampreet Singh

Mr. Parampreet Singh, Director at Avantech Engineering Consortium Pvt. Ltd, gave an online lecture on Advanced NDT Methods for Assessment of Concrete Structures for Strength, Integrity and Corrosion on 26 March, as part of the IASTRUCTE – IIIT Hyderabad Student Chapter lecture series.

The lecture highlighted the importance of advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques in evaluating the condition and performance of concrete structures without causing any damage. Mr. Singh emphasized the critical role of NDT methods in assessing key structural parameters such as in-situ compressive strength, reinforcement corrosion, internal defects, and overall structural integrity. He noted that these techniques enable rapid and reliable assessments, helping engineers make informed decisions regarding maintenance, rehabilitation, and retrofitting of infrastructure.

The session also underscored the importance of ensuring safety, serviceability, and long-term durability in critical infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels, metro systems, buildings, and industrial facilities. Mr. Singh provided an overview of various advanced NDT techniques, explaining their working principles and real-world applications. He highlighted how integrating multiple NDT methods can lead to more accurate and comprehensive structural evaluations, while also addressing practical challenges in field implementation and interpretation of results.

In the latter part of the lecture, Mr. Singh shared case studies from his professional experience, illustrating the application of advanced NDT techniques in large-scale infrastructure projects. He also discussed his work with NABL-accredited laboratories, emphasizing the role of advanced testing in enhancing maintenance strategies and extending the service life of structures.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where participants interacted actively with the speaker on practical challenges and emerging trends in NDT. The lecture saw enthusiastic participation from students and researchers, making it a highly enriching learning experience.
