IIIT Hyderabad, Intel Technology India Private Limited and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have signed an MoU to collaborate to fast track the understanding of the disease and accelerate drug / vaccine discovery.
CSlR will leverage Intel client and server solutions along with reference SDK’s to set up COVID t9 test centers across India CJ to achieve:
- Simpler and faster testing methods for COVID19 using indigenously developed portable Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction System (RT-PCR).
- COVID19 genome sequencing using Oxford Nanopore NGS systems. This data is useful for understanding epidemiology, breaking transmission etc.
- AI based risk stratification for COVID by collecting body-parameters for patients with comorbidities. The high throughput RNA sequencing will also enable drug/vaccine discovery for COVID19.
Roles and responsibilities
Intel: Funding, Reference System Design, Duta Orchestration/ Access, Enabling Sample Collection Center Application and Enabling Research.
IIITH: Basic Risk Stratification; Multimodal models for Advanced Risk Stratification. IIIT-H will execute these activities as part of the Applied AI Research Center.
CSIR: All activities complementing Intel and IIITH needed for project execution including enabling faster RT-PCR testing anci faster NGS based sequencing.
