IIITH Students Bag Deployable AI Best Paper Award

Manisha Padala and Sankarshan Damle, Ph.D students working under the guidance of  Dr. Sujit Gujar received Best Paper Award at the first Indian conference on (DAI) organized by Robert Bosch Center for Data Science and AI, IIT Madras from 16 – 18 June for their work on Building Ethical AI: Federated Learning Meets Fairness and Differential Privacy. The proposal depicts how AI systems should be built to maintain privacy, fairness simultaneously in federated learning so that AI is more ethical. Manisha Padala and Sankrshan Damle were given a cash prize of USD 500.

The first Deployable AI conference was organized online by the Center of Excellence on Deployable AI, IIT Madras. The theme for this edition is ‘Explainable AI’. As AI becomes more advanced, humans are challenged to comprehend and retrace how the algorithm came to a result. Understanding how AI systems work is essential to how we navigate the world around us and is essential to fostering trust and confidence in Artificial Intelligence.
