Campus Life Council celebrated Lohri and Makar Sankranti on campus with a bonfire, music, traditional sweets and snacks on 13th January evening and kite-flying on 14th morning.
Makar Sankranti is a harvest festival dedicated to Surya (Sun) and marks the arrival of spring and the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Makara rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path. From this day the northward movement of the sun begins. Makar Sankranti is known by various names like Lohri, Bhogali Bihu, Pedda Pandaga, Poush Sangkranti,Tila Sakrait, Khichdi, Pongal and Shishur Saenkraat.
