IIIT Hyderabad celebrated Lohri and Makar Sankranti on 13 and 14 January respectively. Both the events had more than 500 participants. The celebrations brought together students, faculty, and staff, fostering a sense of community and festive spirit.
Lohri celebrations began on the evening of 13 January with the lighting of a bonfire and Lohri Puja, symbolizing prosperity and gratitude. Following the rituals, prasad consisting of festive sweets like gajak, groundnut, and popcorn, were distributed to all present. The event transitioned into an energetic DJ night, with participants dancing and celebrating at the Felicity ground from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm. The enthusiasm of the crowd and the vibrant atmosphere made the event truly memorable.
The Makar Sankranti celebration on 14 January focused on a kite-flying event at the Felicity ground. Attendees were provided kites and manjhas to ensure everyone could participate. The event also featured festive sweets such as mamre ka laddu, chikki, and laddus, which were enjoyed by all. The kite-flying event was a significant success, with participants praising the arrangements and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
