Dr. Mazharuddin Syed Ahmed, Technology Evangelist gave a talk on Integrating Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) in Architectural Curriculum on 15 February.
In his talk he spoke about the BIM programme which includes designing BIM resources portal using immersive learning, project-based collaborative learning, Virtual Reality/Augmented content delivered using Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). He covered the following topics in his talk:
- Integrating BIM and Virtual Design and Construction in Architecture curriculum
- Developing interactive and immersive e-Learning content (LMS Moodle) to teach
BIM and VDC using research-based and inquiry-based virtual learning environments - Developing formative and summative assessment for BIM and VDC course learning outcomes
- Developing Mobile learning, VR, AR, and Mixed Reality BIM teaching and learning content
Dr. Mazharuddin Syed Ahmed has a doctorate in Technology Education Multivariate Data Mining. He teaches Building Information Modelling, Virtual Design & Construction at Ara Institute of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has experience in teaching and research that spans over 21 years. He also has experience in Building Performance Analysis, Data Visualization, Students Mentoring, Integrating Educational Technologies and Classification of Religious Manuscripts. He had recently developed New Zealand’s first BIM Postgraduate Programme at his current institution, which includes designing a comprehensive BIM resources portal using Virtual Reality and immersive learning content on institute Learning Management Systems. He is actively engaged in developing a framework for Smart Citizens which aims towards building professional development for future job skills.
