The Ministry of Education’s flagship event, IInvenTiv-2024, the second edition of India’s largest Research and Development Innovation Fair from higher education institutions was held on 19 and 20 January at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH). This event brought together some of India’s brightest minds to showcase ground breaking R&D projects.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, who emphasized the importance of IInvenTiv-2024 as a tech and innovation hub, reflecting India’s progress in research and entrepreneurship. He also praised Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision and the role of IInvenTiv-2024 in advancing this vision.
IIIT Hyderabad displayed the following three research projects in the innovation fair:
- Smart City ctOp (City IOT Operation Platform)
- iRaste
- Ask Agastya (students ask science Qs on phone)
With the support of IHUB Data and IIIT Hyderabad, Smart City Living Lab made a significant impact at the event by showcasing their innovative project, the Smart City ctOp (City IoT Operations Platform), under the industry 4.0 theme and received significant attention and recognition throughout the event.
The Smart City Living Lab team members Anuradha Vattem, Vaibhav Naware and V J S Pranavasri took the opportunity to explain the lab’s smart city living lab projects and the innovative smart city architecture developed by the lab to all visitors.
Anuradha Vattem, the lead architect at Smart City Living Lab, explained to the visitors how the ctOP platform revolutionizes the deployment of multiple IoT devices across the cities in an easy and standardized manner. This platform, developed by the lab, streamlines the deployment of smart city solutions, facilitating the adoption of advanced technologies by cities in a streamlined fashion.
On the first day of the event, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, paid a visit to the Smart City Living Lab booth, where Mr. Vaibhav Naware explained the existing deployment of more than 300+nodes in the IIITH campus using multiple communication networks like 4G, WiSUN, LoRaWAN, esim etc to enable uninterrupted data collection. Mr. V J S Pranavasri reiterated the relevance and requirement of ctOP platform to get the existing deployment in IIITH to get extended to more cities.
The Smart City Living Lab booth was honored to host several distinguished guests notably, senior representatives from renowned companies like Bosch, Honeywell, Mathworks, ELICO and esteemed institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), OGC India forum and various other stakeholders. They expressed their admiration for the innovative platform and projects showcased by IIIT Hyderabad. They recognized the potential of these initiatives to transform cities into smart, efficient, and sustainable urban spaces.
Anuradha Vattem mentioned that the visitors couldn’t get their eyes off the real-time dashboard (Summary View) offering a comprehensive insight for the deployment and the live campus tour (Grace View) displayed.
IInvenTiv-2024 at IIT Hyderabad was a resounding success, providing a platform for India’s top educational institutions to present their cutting-edge research and development projects. IIIT Hyderabad’s Smart City Living Lab made a significant impact, drawing attention from government officials, industry leaders, and academics. Their innovative solutions in the field of smart cities were met with enthusiasm and appreciation, reinforcing the lab’s commitment to advancing technology for the betterment of cities and society at large. Vaibhav Naware and V J S Pranavasri played a pivotal role in explaining the lab’s work to all visitors, enhancing the understanding and appreciation of their groundbreaking research.
