IIITH-NSS student volunteers Mani Tej Sriram, Pratham Omkar Pattanayak, Saarthak Sabharwal, Srihari Bandarupalli and Radheshyam Thiyagarajan participated in Aksharamaala a free online learning initiative supported by IIT Hyderabad that provides academic support to rural 10th class students from government schools. The program offers online learning and coaching   in math and physics through the “Connect with GEMS” program, career counseling, and mentoring. It aims to enhance curricular, co-curricular, and motivational connections for these students. Aksharamaala is a joint initiative of Aksharadaan, IIT Hyderabad, SCERT, and the Telangana government, along with volunteers from various institutions. The program has helped students aim high, think big, and plan their future.

These volunteers gave training to 179 students of 8th class for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) Scholarship exam. This effort helped 55  students  to secure the Government of India Scholarship.
