The convergence of technology and healthcare has consistently driven innovation, as exemplified by the recent MATHADEMIA 2024 event held on 16 and 17 May at T-Hub. A notable highlight was the contribution from alumni of the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad), led by Kaja Varun Kumar, a Computer Science undergraduate alum (2013 – 2017). Varun, currently the CFO and advisor for Angeleyes, led a team addressing the critical healthcare issue of hair loss, securing the first prize in the prestigious MATHADEMIA event for their AI/ML startup.
Collaborating with distinguished figures such as Dr. K S Hima Bindu, Co-Founder and COO of Salubrity and founder of Angel Eyes, G. Vijay Reddy, founder of Olympus Sports and One All Sports Arena, A.K. Harsha, Nikhil Anand, Tejashree and Usha Kiran, the team aimed to revolutionize wellness through their venture, Salubrity Health and Wellness. The team tackled the problem statement “Treat and track hair loss problems via a nutrition AI bot,” with a mission to develop innovative AI-driven solutions to enhance healthcare outcomes.
MATHADEMIA 2024 featured MATHack, a 30-hour AI-themed hackathon with record participation: 1,736 teams, 6,944 participants, and 50 mentors. Organized by the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Technology Hub (MATH) with support from DST and T-Hub, the event attracted multiple startups, developers, and students from across India.
An esteemed panel of mentors and domain experts from companies such as SAP, Microsoft, and TCS validated the participants’ ideas. Varun team’s AI-driven solution for hair loss using a nutrition AI bot, garnered significant appreciation from the jury. The solution’s potential to revolutionize wellness and hair care stood out among the innovative ideas presented.
