The Smart City Research Centre (SCRC) at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BuildIQ Technologies LLP, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey to develop innovative, sustainable, and technology-driven solutions for smart infrastructure.  New MoU paves the way for Smarter Campuses, Intelligent Buildings, and Sustainable Urban Solutions.

This partnership brings together IIIT Hyderabad’s research excellence and BuildIQ’s industry expertise to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world implementation. The collaboration will focus on research, technology development, commercialization, and skill development in the areas of Smart Cities, Smart Campuses, Smart Buildings, Integrated Building Management Systems (IBMS), and sustainable infrastructure.

The MoU establishes a strong framework for jointly designing, developing, deploying, and commercializing intelligent digital solutions that improve the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of modern infrastructure.

The partnership will focus on several strategic initiatives, including:

• Commercialization and deployment of the City IoT Operating Platform (ctOP) as a next-generation Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) for smart buildings and campuses.
• Joint development and commercialization of IoT devices and intelligent sensors to enable real-time monitoring, automation, and smart infrastructure management.
• Development of Net Zero and sustainability solutions, including energy efficiency, environmental monitoring, carbon footprint reduction, and support for IGBC compliance.
• Skill development and capacity-building initiatives through workshops, training programs, internships, and industry-academia collaboration in the IBMS domain.
• Pilot deployment of innovative smart infrastructure solutions across campuses, commercial buildings, and urban environments.
