Shreyash Gujar, MS by research in ECE working with Dr. Sachin Chaudhari presented two research papers at the 12th International Conference on Environment Pollution and Prevention (ICEPP 2024) held at Brisbane, Australia from 8 to 10 November.
- Citywide Mobile Air Quality Monitoring using GPS-enabled Low-Cost IoT Sensors – Shreyash Gujar, Hitesh Pamireddy, Naga Saiteja Maradani, Spanddhana Sara, Sachin Chaudhari and K S Rajan
This study introduces a city-wide air quality monitoring approach using low-cost sensors on mobile platforms in Hyderabad. IoT devices on college buses collected data, revealing significant PM variability and pollution hotspots. The findings underscore the value of mobile monitoring for real-time air quality data, particularly for those with health concerns.

- Exposing Privacy Risks in Indoor Air Pollution Monitoring Systems – Krishna Singh, Shreyash Gujar, Sachin Chaudhari and Ponnurangam Kumaraguru
Here is the summary of their research work: A study on indoor air pollution monitoring using IoT devices shows that simple data on particulate matter, CO2, and temperature can reveal insights into an individual’s lifestyle. Machine learning techniques inferred cooking activities and identified different food items by their pollution signatures. The findings highlight the need for privacy measures, as even basic data can raise privacy concerns.
