Holi Celebration

Holi was celebrated on campus on 7 March with a Prabhat Pheri near Faculty Quarters in the morning that ended at Jagruti Banyan tree. Throughout the procession faculty, staff and students sang songs and danced around the campus and played holi with organic colours at the institute football ground. Snacks, sweets and thandai was served.

‘Prabhat Pheri’, which literally means ‘early morning rounds’, is a tradition or a ritual lost in the façade of modernization. A long time ago, during the yesteryears of ethnic India, people from the villages would get up early in the morning much before the sun’s rays peeped from the sky and take rounds of the village chanting and singing ‘bhajans’ and playing ethnic instruments.
