Hindi Diwas

Every year, 14  September is observed as Hindi Diwas, as on this day in 1953 Hindi was accepted as one of the official languages of India. This year, for the first time, an event was organized in the institute to celebrate Hindi Diwas. Students of all batches (UG, PG, research assistants, PhD) and their friends and  faculty were also present during the event.

During the event various forms of poetry were recited, some penned by famous poets of the past and present,  as well as original works by the participants. Themes of the poems varied from love and relationships to war and social issues. Later, Prof. Harjinder Singh addressed the audience and spoke about Hindi as a language, various dialects and variations of Hindi, and how Hindi has changed over eras. He also recited a self-composed poem, along with Telugu translation for the same, emphasizing on the fact that the event does not intend to exclude anyone, but rather to celebrate the national language of India.

The event, organised by Team Felicity ’20 was a huge success. This was part of a trio of events organised by them in celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage.
