IIITH organized a Hands-on Workshop on IoT and oneM2M for Smart Cities on 18 and 19 March under its College Research Affiliate Program. This program received support from the RESIDE project, the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India and Smart City Research Center, IIITH. The objectives of this workshop were to train the students and faculty of the affiliated colleges on the topics of IoT, Smart Cities, Plug Load Monitoring, and oneM2M, encouraging them to deploy standard-based solutions in their campuses for energy-efficient smart buildings.
The following five colleges from different parts of India participated in this workshop:

90 students and 10 faculty from these five colleges participated in the workshop, which consisted of two days of lectures and hands-on sessions. These students had already completed a MOOC on oneM2M online, where they received support from IIITH mentors for hands-on sessions. The lectures were given by IIITH faculty.
One more objective of this workshop was that they should take the built solution on Plug Load Monitoring using IoT and oneM2M and deploy in their colleges. The students enjoyed the lecture sessions and participated enthusiastically in the project sessions. Students formed 22 teams, consisting of 4 students in each team. All the teams successfully completed the IoT and oneM2M-based plug load monitoring, and now these teams will go and deploy these devices in their colleges. A few selected students from this workshop will also come to IIITH for their internship and B.Tech thesis.
