Dr Vishnu Sreekumar was bestowed with the 2026 HPS–IMH Oration Award by the Hyderabad Psychiatric Society on 23 August at Hotel Mercure, Hyderabad. In his oration, he examined the role of AI and computational cognitive science in psychiatry, separating hype from reality. He also proposed a framework for collaboration among AI researchers, cognitive scientists, engineers, psychiatrists, and patients that moves beyond early detection towards understanding treatment-relevant mechanisms.
