Dr. Raghava Dutt Mulukutla, Director and Chief of Spine Surgery at Udai Omni Hospital and Apollo Health City will give a talk on Addressing spine health in the age of deskwork on 5 March.
Across the world those engaged in deskwork develop sedentary habits with little time set aside for physical activity, leading to poor overall musculoskeletal tone and lower back pain. On an average we sit for 12-16 hours a day and the long periods of sitting lifestyle overloads certain muscles and joints, causing muscle imbalances and improper movement patterns. Lack of movement and poor posture can strain ligaments and muscles, affecting spinal curvature. Prolonged sitting can decrease thoracic and lumbar mobility, flatten the lumbar curve, and increase intradiscal pressure, heightening the risk of chronic back pain. Age-related changes also l effect the spine. In this interaction, Dr. Raghava Dutt will emphasis the above points with instructions for a better spine health. The discussion will also extend to how technology aided interventions can be made effective for a healthy life-style, prognosis and therapy.
