Dr. Nimmi Rangaswamy

Attended her first meeting as Advisor, as Advisory Board Member United Nations University- Computing and Society, UNC-CS, from 28  April to 1 May at the Royal Holloway, University of London. The meeting was called to discuss various administrative and academic policy and processes for UNC-CS.

Was invited by IMA ( http://www.ima-india.com/)  to conduct a workshop for a leadership team from a bunch of industries at the Westin, Hyderabad on 15 May. While adopting AI and other technologies, top management and employees often have different expectations and perspectives. While employers are focused on cost, efficiency and productivity, employees may have entirely different concerns, ranging from anxieties about individual redundancy to the loss of control over their work and even the manner of interaction at the workplace as humans are replaced by machines. Worryingly, such concerns often remain unaddressed until it is too late or, in some cases, not addressed at all. Dr Rangaswamy’s talk addressed these issues as her work dwells on the variegated industry contexts that govern and drive policy and process to automate work practices in the IT industry.
