Member of IJGS’s Editorial Advisory Board
Dr. Nimmi Rangaswamy has been appointed as a member of Indian Journal of Gender Studies (IJGS) Editorial Advisory Board in February. IJGS is a peer reviewed, triannual, scopus indexed and UGC Care (A) listed journal. It is internationally published by Sage. The role involves peer reviewing or suggesting the names of peer reviewers for submissions, identifying potential contributors and themes for special numbers.
The first issue of IJGS published was in March 1999. Since, the Journal continues to deepen our understanding of society through a nuanced analysis of gender. It moves beyond simplistic comparisons between women and men, instead examining gender as a critical lens through which to challenge entrenched social attitudes and academic biases. By doing so, the journal seeks to uncover and illuminate the diverse contributions individuals make to family, community, and the broader political sphere. Its scope includes, among other key concerns, the phenomenon of violence, the structure of family life, the often-unseen labour of women, policy and institutional critiques, women’s political participation, and the intersections of motherhood and child care.
