Dr. Karthik Vaidhyanathan has joined the Software Engineering and Research Center (SERC) as an Assistant Professor. His main research interests lie in the intersection of software architecture (SA) and machine learning (ML), focusing on CPS and microservice-based systems. His research focuses on developing approaches to better architect ML-enabled systems (SA4ML), and further on leveraging ML to architect self-adaptive software systems (ML4SA).

Dr. Karthik Vaidhyanathan is a recipient of dual master’s degrees, M.Tech in Computer Science from Amrita University, India (specialization: Machine learning) and MSc in Computer Science from University of L’Aquila, Italy (specialization: Software Engineering for adaptive systems). He obtained his Ph.D in 2021 from the Gran Sasso Science Institute, Italy, based on his thesis titled “Data-driven Self-adaptive Architecting using Machine Learning”. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoc at the University of L’Aquila, Italy, where he was associated with an Italian national-funded project, VASARI. As a part of his research activities, Dr. Karthik Vaidhyanathan also serves as a reviewer/organizing committee member of various software engineering workshops, conferences and journals of international repute.
