A Note From The Queer Club – Fostering Inclusion and Celebrating Diversity at IIIT Hyderabad
The Queer Club at IIIT Hyderabad is a vibrant community dedicated to creating an inclusive, protective, and supportive environment for the LGBTQ+ community. The club is a testament to the institute’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who embrace diversity and champion social progress.
The Queer Club firmly believes in celebrating the uniqueness of each individual. In a world that is gradually dismantling taboos surrounding age, caste, and religion, it is essential to challenge the misconception that people who belong to the LGBTQ+ community face inherent “issues” with their minds or bodies. The Club aims to debunk these harmful stereotypes and foster a culture of understanding, empathy, and acceptance.
IIIT Hyderabad imparts academic excellence and endeavours to shape students into compassionate, open-minded, and responsible social beings. The establishment of the Queer Club aims to extend this ethos and create a safe and healthy atmosphere where LGBTQ+ individuals can freely express themselves and form meaningful connections within the community.
The club is dedicated to providing a platform for advocacy, education, and support. Through collaborative efforts and dialogues, it strives to foster an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and celebrated.
The club welcomes students, faculty, and staff, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, to actively engage with the Queer Club and contribute to building a community that thrives on empathy, acceptance, and equality.
