On the occasion of International Mother Language Day IIIT Hyderabad library organised a book exhibition on 21 and 22 February at KRB Exhibition Hall. It included leading book publishers and distributors such as M/s. National Book Trust India, Hyderabad, M/s. Akshara, Hyderabad, M/s. Minds Book Stores, Hyderabad (Fiction, Non-Fiction and General Reading Books in English, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi and Tamil), M/s. Miland Prakashan, Hyderabad Hindi Books , M/s.Navachetan Mobile Book Exhibition Van for Telugu Books, and M/s. Shah Book House, Hyderabad, M/s. Professional Book Service in collaboration with M/s. Feel Books, Bangalore and M/s Book Selection Centre, Hyderabad. The selection of books included a wide collection of Indian books, particularly in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences and Humanities.
The participating publishers/distributors showcased books classic books on literature, fiction, philosophy, sociology and books of interest for children from National Book Trust of India (NBT), Penguin, Hachet, Harper Collin, Simon and Schuster, Bloomsbury, Perment Black Books, Orion Publishing, Navachetana Publisher, that included English, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu books. Latest edition textbooks published from some of the prominent publishers CRC, Routledge Indian Special editions, Springer India, Wiley India, World Scientific, Pearson, McGrah Hill were also available.
The book exhibition was organised by the library to help the academic community recommend additions to the library’s collections. It also allowed the IIITH community to add books to their personal collections, as well as help nurture the reading habit among all, especially students.
The response was positive as many aspiring young readers including faculty were seen showing interest. More than 200 students and faculty visited the book exhibition with great enthusiasm and interest.
The exhibition was open to all faculty members, students, staff and campus residents.
