Book Exhibition

The IIITH library organised  a Book Exhibition on 13 and 14 August, where leading publishers/distributors and book-sellers exhibited  a wide collection of International and Indian books, particularly in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Civil Engineering,  Mathematics, Natural Sciences,  Social Sciences and Humanities and Literature (both fiction and non-fiction in English, Hindi, and Telugu). 

Prominent book publishers and distributors were invited, including M/s. Aditya Books (P) Ltd., Noida (UP), M/s. Shanti Books, Chennai, M/s. Standard Book Company, Bangalore, M/s. Shah Book House,Hyderabad in collaboration with Feel Books, Bangalore, M/s Book Selection Centre, Hyderabad, Academic Books both Indian and international edition were on display, with a focus on Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Humanities.

The exhibition included books from leading publishers like Taylor and Francis, CRC, Routledge, Dekker, Springer, Elsevier, IET, Cambridge University Press, McGraw-Hill, Oxford University Press, World Scientific, Wiley, Pearson, Jones and Bartlett and Orient Blackswan, American Mathematical Society, etc., Apart from academic books relating to the disciplines taught in IIITH, both Indian and internationally published books were on display, and M/s. Akshara Book Shop, Hyderabad, M/s. Minds Book Stores, Hyderabad displayed books Penguin, Hachette, Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster, Bloomsbury, Permanent Black, Rawat, polity, Atlanta, Primus, etc..

The Navachetan mobile book exhibition van displayed books relating to Telugu literature and general readings in English  from all across the nation and the world (fiction, non-fiction, and general reading books).

The exhibition helped the academic community in suggesting additions to IIITH library’s collections. In addition to helping the community members, especially the students, develop a love of reading, the book displays give the community members an opportunity to build up their personal book collections. This gave faculty  and students an opportunity to communicate with various publishers and distributors directly. The library staff distributed the library brochure to the user community during the book exhibition.

 The book exhibition attracted more than 300 members from campus and provided a wonderful platform for them to interact and share recommendations. Positive comments were given, and many enthusiastic young readers were observed showing interest.

 The following are the outcomes of book exhibition:

  • Received excellent book recommendations from the faculty members, students and staff and they bought books related to their interests
  • Students got an opportunity to add some excellent books to their collections
  • User group discussed about various collections of books
  • A friendly environment for book reading
