On 23rd January, first year women students attended AMD’s LeadIN Program — an initiative designed to inspire and empower women in technology while fostering stronger connections between academia and industry. The LeadIN program aims to inspire young female engineers to learn about and explore the semiconductor industry. About 100 students, along with their professors, from three top-notch colleges in Hyderabad (BITS, IIT, and IIITH) attended the session.
The event began with a brief introduction to AMD, followed by engaging pre-exercise activities and goodies distribution for the students. Attendees explored six interactive booths showcasing AMD technologies, including AI Experience Zone, Accelerating SoC Design with Interactive Tools, NLP Smart Vision, Face Recognition on the KRIA Board, AWF and Alumni Booth.
The highlight of the day was the keynote speech by Jaya Jagadish, SVP and Country Head of India. She shared her inspiring journey from being a student to becoming an industry leader. The students were delighted to hear her story, and Jaya graciously addressed their questions, sharing valuable insights.
Several members of AMD’s leadership team were also in attendance, including Sanjay Churiwala, Puneet Mishra, Santosh Yachareni, Anil Kumar, Vithal Parek, Suman Timmireddy, Sharat Babu Kotamraju, and Nandini Mudgil. They engaged with professors to discuss ways to promote opportunities in the semiconductor industry.
A special thanks to Prof Abhishek Srivastava, Prof Zia Abbas and Sunanda Varma for their efforts in coordinating and making this event a reality. Their support was instrumental in fostering this collaboration.
