Mr. Abhikrant Sharma, Staff Engineer, Qualcomm gave the second talk of the three-talk series on Domain-Specific Languages to Program Image Processing and ML/DL on 8 February. Here is the summary of Mr.  Abhikrant Sharma’s talk on Hexagon DSP Architecture Overview:

Hexagon Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is a world-class processor with both CPU and DSP functionality to support deeply embedded processing needs of multimedia and AI/ML applications with low power consumption. It is an advanced, variable instruction length, Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) processor architecture with hardware multithreading. The Hexagon architecture and family of cores provide Qualcomm Technologies with a competitive advantage in performance and power efficiency for camera/video/computer vision applications and is a key component of all of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. The tech talk gave an overview of the vector engine in Hexagon DSP.

Mr. Abhikrant Sharma is an engineer with ten years of experience in designing and developing compilers, device drivers, and firmware on Hexagon DSP. Currently, Abhikrant is a member of the AI compiler team at Qualcomm. His interests include high-performance computing, optimal edge processing, and compilers to augment performance.
