The Cultural Wing of the Student Life Committee (SLC) organised “சேய் (Cēy): A Lullaby of Rāga and Tāla”, a Carnatic music concert by Dr. V. Subashri, on 4 February at the Tarangini Amphitheatre. She was accompanied by Shri Ch. Ramakrishna on the mridangam and Shri Rajashekar Oruganti on the violin.
Dr. Subashri, a renowned Carnatic vocalist from Chennai, is a B-High Grade artiste of All India Radio and has been trained since childhood under Sangita Kalanidhi Dr. S. Sowmya and Dr. M Srinivasan. Known for her spontaneity on stage and deep commitment to music education, she also co-edits Kural, an e-magazine on South Indian classical music, and founded The Kural Trust to promote the fine arts. A recipient of the CCRT Senior Scholarship and Sunaadalahari’s Best Vocalist Award (2022), Dr. Subashri also holds a Ph.D in Statistical Physics from The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai.
Shri Ch. Ramakrishna is an accomplished mridangam artiste, well known in Hyderabad’s Carnatic music circuit for his sensitive and rhythmically rich accompaniment across a wide range of vocal and instrumental concerts.
Shri Rajashekar Oruganti, a highly regarded Carnatic violinist from Hyderabad, is admired for his meticulous playing style and technical brilliance, and performs regularly both as a soloist and as an accompanist to leading vocalists.
