Independence Day Celebrations

On 15 August, IIIT-H celebrated India’s 72nd Independence Day at the amphitheatre. The celebrations began with flag hoisting, followed by national anthem, homage to those who fought for India’s freedom, oath taking ceremony by the parliament members and cultural programme by campus community.

Other events organized to celebrate India’s 72nd  Independence day included:

  • Blood donation camp at Aarogya Center by NSS team in collaboration with Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).
  • A signature campaign for “Protection of the Girl Child” by the Felicity team in collaboration with Sankalp Foundation – an organisation dedicated to the development of children in need. Later in the day, children from Sankalp foundation interacted with IIIT-H students and spent the day with them.
  • Activities by different clubs including arts, quiz, music and dance club were conducted on 14 and 15 August.
  • Lecturers from Centre of Exact Humanities (CEH), presented an artwork, Samvada – a dialogue,which was a concurrent performance of vocals by Dr. T K Saroja, T K Sujatha & team, mridangam by R Shrikanth, painting by Sunil Lohar, dance by S Jayachandran as well as dance and sculpture by K G Shajil.
