The IAStructE – IIIT Hyderabad Student Chapter was awarded the Best Student Chapter Award at the ceremony held at Ph.D House, New Delhi, on 15 November. This recognition reflects the Chapter’s outstanding contributions to professional development, knowledge dissemination, and student engagement in the field of Structural and Earthquake Engineering.
Under the guidance of the Faculty Mentor – Dr. P Pravin Kumar Venkat Rao, the Chapter has demonstrated exceptional initiative, dedication, and academic enthusiasm over the two years from August 2023 to July 2025. During this period, the Chapter organized a diverse range of technical lectures, workshops, field visits, and professional training sessions aimed at enhancing learning beyond the classroom and promoting industry-academia interaction. These activities have enriched the exposure of students, researchers, and practising engineers to topics such as seismic risk assessment, structural health monitoring, steel and concrete design, rehabilitation of masonry structures, construction technology, and architectural integration.
Key Highlights of Activities Conducted (2023–2025):
- Seventeen expert lectures delivered by distinguished professionals and academicians • One-Day National Workshop on Seismic Safety of Masonry Structures • Field and industrial visits to organizations such as NGRI, NRSC, and precast construction facilities
These initiatives reflect the Chapter’s commitment to fostering technical excellence, innovation, and experiential learning in the domain of structural engineering. The contributions and constant support of the Executive Student Body Committee of the IAStructE – IIIT Hyderabad Student Chapter are gratefully acknowledged.
The Chapter expresses sincere appreciation to the EERC and IIIT Hyderabad for their continuous guidance and encouragement, which have been instrumental in achieving this milestone. Looking ahead, the Chapter aims to further strengthen its role in nurturing young engineers and researchers, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to the profession and society.
