Sports and yoga committee and NSS-IIIT Hyderabad jointly organised the 11th International Yoga Day on 21 June at the institute Felicity Ground to promote holistic well-being among students. The session aimed to raise awareness about the significance of yoga in maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. About 35 students participated in the event. The participants followed the “Common Yoga Protocol” established by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India which included a structured sequence of yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation.
Prayer: Calming prayer to set a peaceful intention.
- Loosening Practices: Gentle warm-up exercises to prepare the body, including neck movements, shoulder movements, trunk movements, and knee movements.
- Yogasanas:
- Standing Postures: Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Trikonasana.
- Sitting Postures: Bhadrāsana, Vajrasana, Ardha Ushtrasana, Ushtrasana, Shashankasana, Uttana Mandukasana, Vakrasana.
- Prone Postures: Bhujangasana, Shalabhasana, Makarasana.
- Supine Postures: Setubandhasana,Uttana Padasana, Ardha Halasana, Pavanamuktasana, Shavasana.
- Breathing Practices:
- Kapalabhati: Cleansing breath exercise.
- Pranayama: Includes Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing), Sitali and Bhramari (Bee Breath).
- Dhyana (Meditation): Practicing mindfulness and mental clarity.
- Sankalpa (Resolution): Setting a personal intention for your yoga practice.
Shanti Patha (Peace Chant): A Chant for peace and harmony. This was followed by refreshments to all participants.
