On the occasion of F C Kohli Day Prof. Takeo Kanade, Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University gave a distinguished lecture on Fun Research on Computer Vision and Robotics to Enthuse Younger Researchers on 17 March.
In his talk, Prof. Kanade shared stories of “fun research” in robotics — how curiosity-driven experimentation and bold ideas can lead to transformative innovation. From foundational advances in computer vision to real-world robotics applications, his work has influenced generations of researchers and engineers worldwide.
Prof. Takeo Kanade is a Japanese computer scientist and one of the world’s foremost researchers in computer vision and autonomous systems. He is U.A. and Helen Whitaker Professor at Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science. He has approximately 300 peer-reviewed academic publications and holds around 20 patents.
