Master Trainer Program on Allied UAS Technologies

The Robotics Research Center (RRC) organized a Master Trainer Program (MTP) on Allied UAS Technologies with a special focus on Computer Vision and Motion Planning for UAVs, from 27 to 31 October at IIIT Hyderabad. The five-day offline program was funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

The program provided participants with a comprehensive introduction to key theoretical and practical aspects of unmanned aerial systems. The sessions covered a wide range of topics including UAV localization, motion planning and control, sensors, state estimation, rigid body dynamics, image processing, computer vision, flight-control hardware, companion computers for UAVs, the MAVLink protocol, and an introduction to ROS. Hands-on sessions included hardware demonstrations using cameras and LiDAR for computer vision, as well as flight experiments.

A total of six expert speakers delivered lectures and training sessions during the program. Participants represented a diverse group from various academic institutions and the UAV industry, contributing to a rich environment of learning and collaboration.
